3-Day Fly-In Fly-Out Serengeti Luxury Safari from Zanzibar
A short luxury Serengeti safari designed for travellers already staying in Zanzibar
Overview
This is the safari I would recommend when a guest says, ‘I am in Zanzibar, but I cannot leave Tanzania without seeing the Serengeti.’ It is short, focused and much more comfortable than trying to force a road safari into three days.
This 3-Day Fly-In Fly-Out Serengeti Luxury Safari from Zanzibar is designed for travellers who are already enjoying Zanzibar but still want to experience one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations. Instead of using long road transfers, the itinerary uses domestic flights to connect Zanzibar with the Serengeti, helping you save time and keep the journey smooth.
The safari focuses on Central Serengeti, a strong year-round wildlife area known for big cats, open plains, river valleys, kopjes and classic Serengeti scenery. With two nights at Dove Serengeti, you have time for arrival game viewing, a full day on safari and a final morning before flying back to Zanzibar.
This is a compact luxury itinerary. It is not designed to cover every park in northern Tanzania. It is designed to give you a focused Serengeti experience without interrupting your Zanzibar holiday for too long.
For couples and honeymooners, this tour works beautifully as a safari highlight inside a beach holiday. For families or friends, it is a practical way to add a serious wildlife experience without committing to a full northern circuit safari.

Day by day
Day 1
Zanzibar to Central Serengeti
Your safari begins with an early transfer from your Zanzibar hotel to Zanzibar Airport for your scheduled flight to the Serengeti. This flight is one of the biggest advantages of the itinerary because it avoids long road travel and places you close to wildlife country quickly.
On arrival at the Serengeti airstrip, you will be welcomed by your professional safari guide. Depending on flight timing, your game drive may begin immediately as you leave the airstrip and head toward your camp. This is the moment when the beach holiday changes into a true wilderness experience.
Central Serengeti is known for excellent year-round wildlife viewing. The area includes open grasslands, riverine habitats, rocky kopjes and predator-rich plains. During your first game drive, you may see giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, elephants, buffalo, hyenas and big cats if conditions are favourable.
Later in the day, continue to Dove Serengeti for check-in, dinner and overnight. The evening is for relaxing, listening to the sounds of the bush and settling into the safari rhythm after your flight from Zanzibar.
Day 2
Full-Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti
Today is dedicated to a full-day safari in Central Serengeti. Your guide may recommend an early start because morning hours are often excellent for predator activity, cooler temperatures and beautiful light for photography.
Central Serengeti is one of the best places in Tanzania for travellers with limited time because it offers strong wildlife possibilities throughout the year. Lions are often seen on the plains or near kopjes, leopards may be found in riverine trees, and cheetahs favour more open areas where they can hunt.
Your route will depend on wildlife movement, recent sightings and road conditions. You may explore the Seronera region, river valleys, open plains and quieter areas where your guide expects good wildlife activity. A packed lunch can be arranged so you can stay out longer without returning to camp during prime viewing time.
Beyond the famous animals, this day allows you to enjoy the full atmosphere of the Serengeti: the space, silence, changing light and rhythm of nature. The best safari moments are not always rushed sightings. Sometimes they come from waiting, watching and letting the wilderness unfold naturally.
In the late afternoon, return to Dove Serengeti for dinner and your second night in the park.
Because this safari is short, do not sleep through the best game-drive hours. Use the full day properly and let your guide plan around wildlife movement, not only around the clock.

Serengeti Morning Game Drive and Flight Back to Zanzibar
Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti before transferring to the airstrip. Morning is a beautiful time in the park, and even a short drive can produce memorable sightings.
Your guide will manage the timing carefully so you reach the airstrip in good time for your flight. As you leave the Serengeti, you may still see wildlife along the way, giving you a final taste of the plains before returning to the island.
You will fly back to Zanzibar, where your beach holiday can continue. On arrival, you will be transferred to your Zanzibar hotel or connected with your onward arrangements depending on your package setup.
This marks the end of your 3-Day Fly-In Fly-Out Serengeti Luxury Safari from Zanzibar with Warriors of Africa Safari.

Useful tips
- Flights set the timing
- Flight schedules shape how much game-drive time you get on Day 1 and Day 3. We confirm timings around real flight availability when we build your quote.
- A focused safari
- This is a Serengeti-only safari, not a full northern circuit. For Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire or Northern Serengeti, choose a longer itinerary.
- Use the early hours
- Mornings are often best for predators, cooler air and light. On a three-day safari, the best game-drive hours are worth the early alarm.
- Tips aren't included
- Gratuities for your guide and camp staff aren't part of the price, so plan a little for them.
- Bring insurance details
- Travel insurance isn't included. Keep your policy details with you, printed and on your phone.
- Keep printed copies
- Phones run flat and signal can be patchy in the park. A printed itinerary, visa approval and insurance details help at check-ins.
- Dress for Stone Town
- Zanzibar's coastal culture values modest clothing away from the beach. Pack an outfit that covers shoulders and knees for town visits.
- Ask your doctor about malaria
- Discuss malaria prevention with your doctor before you travel, and bring insect repellent for evenings.
- Zanzibar entry insurance
- Zanzibar has required visitors to hold its official inbound travel insurance since October 2024. We confirm the current rule and cost with your quote.

When to go
This tour can work across much of the year because Central Serengeti is known for reliable resident wildlife. It is especially useful for travellers who are already in Zanzibar and want a quick Serengeti experience without committing to a longer circuit.
For migration-focused travellers, timing depends on where the herds are during the travel month. This itinerary focuses on Central Serengeti, so it is a short Serengeti wildlife safari from Zanzibar rather than a river-crossing safari.
The dry season is popular for classic safari travel, while green-season months can offer beautiful landscapes, fewer crowds and strong predator activity. Wildlife is natural and sightings cannot be guaranteed, but Central Serengeti is one of the strongest choices for limited-time guests.
