Why we use this property
Stanley's Kopje is the upgrade on our 5-Day Mikumi and Udzungwa Mountains Safari, and the sister camp to Vuma Hills under Foxes Safari Camps. It is the only camp in Mikumi set on a rocky kopje on the Mkata floodplain, the one piece of high ground on an otherwise flat open plain, with 360-degree views and the Mwanamboga waterhole, in what is generally seen as the park's best game-viewing area, close below. Twelve tents stand around the lower edge of the hill on high wooden platforms under thatch, each with a veranda facing the plains, and there is a pool up on the kopje. The camp opens from 1 June to the end of February. Foxes run the Foxes Community and Wildlife Trust, which supports health, education and childcare projects in Tanzania.
